The MX100 A/V Processor is a high-performance device designed for use in home theaters. It is designed to be heard but not necessarily seen, with rack-friendly 2U dimensions and removable rack mounting brackets for installation in an equipment rack or out in the open. The MX100 has 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output, all of which are HDCP 2.2 compliant and have 18Gbps of bandwidth to support the transmission of high dynamic range (HDR) formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. These HDMI ports also support 4K Ultra HD at 50/60Hz, 4:4:4 color spacing, Rec. 2020, and 3D video pass-through. The HDMI output also includes enhanced audio return channel (eARC) functionality, which allows the MX100 to receive higher-resolution audio from your TV for improved sound quality.
In addition to the HDMI inputs and output, the MX100 also has 2 coax and 2 optical digital audio inputs for connection to other audio sources. The device is capable of outputting audio through 11.2 discrete audio channels, using a 7.2.4 home theater configuration. This configuration is powered by 7 premium 32-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that provide audiophile-grade processing for the best audio playback. The MX100 has 13 balanced (XLR) outputs for connection to home theater amplifiers, and includes bass and treble tone controls for fine-tuning the audio to your personal preferences.
The MX100 is fully compatible with leading home theater surround sound and object-based 3D audio formats, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It is also compatible with 4K Ultra HD video sources, allowing you to enjoy the best possible picture quality. The device includes built-in Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration software, which can be used to fine-tune the MX100 to your home theater's unique acoustical properties. This software has more than 10,000 individual control points, allowing for detailed analysis and correction of any issues in the room's acoustics.
Setting up the MX100 is easy, with a user-friendly computer interface. Your installer can pre-configure the unit before bringing it to your home, and then simply load the configuration file at installation. Alternatively, you or your integrator can save a backup of the configuration file on a computer or USB stick for safekeeping, allowing you to experiment with different configurations and revert back to the original setup if needed. The MX100 can be fully operated using the included remote control, or it can be easily integrated into your home automation system via the RS232 control protocol.
The MX100 has received Connects with Control4 Certification from Control4, a leading provider of smart home automation solutions. This certification is granted through the implementation of the Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP), which allows the MX100 to be effortlessly integrated into Control4 automation systems. This integration can further enhance the user experience.
The MX100 can be used with a variety of McIntosh home theater amplifiers, such as the MI347 7-Channel Amplifier, MC255 5-Channel Amplifier, and MC257 7-Channel Amplifier. If you need additional power for surround sound or ceiling speakers, you can use the MI254 4-Channel Amplifier or MI128 8-Channel Amplifier. All of these amplifiers are rack-mountable, making it easy to create a complete and cohesive home theater setup.
