Please note: The Paradigm Premier 220B V2 is sold individually. Select a quantity of two when ordering a stereo pair.
The Paradigm Premier 220B V2 Bookshelf Speaker delivers the scale, bass authority, and dynamic range of a much larger loudspeaker from a versatile stand-mount cabinet. As the larger bookshelf speaker in the Premier Series V2, it is designed for listeners who want substantial, room-filling sound without moving to a floorstanding model.
A 1-inch AL-MAC™ ceramic-dome tweeter is paired with a 6-inch ultra-high-excursion AL-MAG™ mid/bass driver in a 2-way ported enclosure. Paradigm's OSW™ waveguide, PPA™ driver lenses, and Gen3 Active Ridge Technology work together to improve clarity, dispersion, driver control, and soundstage precision.
The result is a high-performance passive bookshelf speaker equally suited to serious two-channel music systems, premium television audio, and timbre-matched Premier V2 home theater installations.
Building on the compact precision of the Premier 120B V2, the Premier 220B V2 uses a larger 6-inch AL-MAG™ driver and an increased cabinet volume. This allows it to move more air, play with greater authority, and maintain its composure during demanding musical passages and movie soundtracks.
Its rated low-frequency extension reaches 36 Hz in a typical listening room, giving bass instruments, drums, and cinematic effects greater weight and scale than many conventional bookshelf speakers. The larger cabinet and driver also make the 220B V2 a stronger choice for medium-size and larger rooms.
A subwoofer can still add deeper low-frequency impact for home theater or bass-heavy music, but the 220B V2 is capable of delivering a satisfying, full-range presentation on its own in many stereo systems.
The Premier 220B V2 uses Paradigm's 1-inch AL-MAC™ tweeter, constructed from a blend of aluminum, magnesium, and ceramic. This lightweight but rigid construction is designed to resist unwanted resonance while reproducing detailed, lifelike high frequencies.
The tweeter is ferro-fluid damped and cooled for stable performance at higher listening levels. Paradigm's Oblate Spheroid Waveguide, or OSW™, shapes the tweeter's output to focus sound toward the listening area and limit excessive reflections from surrounding walls and ceilings.
This controlled dispersion helps preserve clear imaging, smooth tonal balance, and natural detail across a wider seating area rather than restricting the best sound to one narrowly defined position.
A 6-inch ultra-high-excursion AL-MAG™ mid/bass driver handles vocals, instruments, and low-frequency information. Its aluminum-magnesium cone combines low mass with high rigidity, allowing the driver to respond quickly while resisting the flexing that can introduce coloration and distortion.
Gen3 Active Ridge Technology, or ART™, increases usable driver excursion while maintaining a controlled connection between the cone and surround. Paradigm's Vertical Mounting System further stabilizes the driver assembly, helping reduce unwanted vibration as output increases.
A high-temperature, multi-layered voice coil with a ventilated Apical™ former supports consistent performance during demanding listening sessions. Together, these technologies give the 220B V2 articulate midrange, controlled bass, and greater dynamic headroom.
Paradigm's Perforated Phase-Aligning, or PPA™, lenses are positioned in front of both drivers. These carefully shaped acoustic filters help block unwanted out-of-phase energy before it reaches the listening position.
By improving the timing and integration between the tweeter and mid/bass driver, the PPA lenses help create more precisely located vocals and instruments. The presentation feels more cohesive, with improved depth, focus, and three-dimensional soundstage definition.
The Premier 220B V2 offers the imaging precision of a high-end bookshelf speaker with the output and bass extension required for more ambitious systems. Recommended applications include:
For the best stereo imaging, place the speakers on rigid stands with the tweeters near seated ear level. Leave some space between the rear of the cabinet and the wall to help maintain controlled, well-defined bass.
With a rated sensitivity of 91 dB in a typical room, the Premier 220B V2 can produce substantial output without requiring an unusually powerful amplifier. Paradigm recommends amplification between 15 and 130 watts per channel, making it compatible with a broad selection of integrated amplifiers, stereo receivers, and home theater receivers.
Although the speaker can operate successfully with modest amplification, a clean and stable amplifier will improve bass control, dynamic contrast, and overall clarity. The 220B V2 is compatible with amplifiers rated for an 8-ohm speaker load.
The Premier V2 cabinet is constructed from MDF and internally braced to help suppress vibration and cabinet coloration. This gives the drivers a stable platform and allows more of the sound you hear to come from the recording rather than the enclosure.
Premium trim and carefully selected finishes give the 220B V2 a refined appearance appropriate for both dedicated listening rooms and shared living spaces.

No. The Premier 220B V2 is sold individually. Select a quantity of two when ordering a conventional stereo pair.
The 220B V2 has a larger 6-inch mid/bass driver, a larger cabinet, higher sensitivity, deeper rated bass extension, and greater maximum input power. It is generally the better option for larger rooms, higher listening levels, and listeners who want a fuller presentation.
Yes. The 220B V2 is a passive bookshelf speaker and must be connected to an integrated amplifier, stereo receiver, power amplifier, or home theater receiver.
A subwoofer is optional for most music systems because the 220B V2 provides meaningful bass extension on its own. Adding a subwoofer is recommended for deep home theater effects, very large rooms, or music with substantial sub-bass content.
Paradigm recommends an amplifier rated between 15 and 130 watts per channel. A clean, stable amplifier is preferable to choosing an amplifier based only on its maximum wattage.
No. Speaker stands are sold separately. Choose rigid stands that position the tweeters close to seated ear level for the best imaging and tonal balance.
The Paradigm Premier 220B V2 is designed for listeners who appreciate the placement flexibility and imaging of a bookshelf speaker but do not want to sacrifice bass weight, output, or musical scale. Its larger AL-MAG driver, AL-MAC tweeter, controlled dispersion, and substantial cabinet make it a compelling foundation for both high-performance stereo and home theater systems.
