The Sonus faber Amati G5 floorstanding speakers are the fifth generation of an Italian high-end audio icon. Handcrafted in Vicenza, Italy, Amati G5 combines a 3.5-way driver system, a DAD™ soft-dome tweeter, a dedicated midrange enclosure and dual 220 mm woofers in Sonus faber’s sculptural lute-shaped cabinet. The result is expansive scale, natural tonal color and controlled low-frequency authority for reference music systems.

Fifth Generation of an Icon

Named for Renaissance violin maker Nicolò Amati, Amati G5 advances the Homage Collection while preserving the materials and proportions that define Sonus faber. Its cabinet is built from nine layers of wood and finished with nine layers of lacquer, with carefully matched grain, black leather and aluminum details creating a seamless blend of acoustic function and Italian design.

3.5-Way Driver System

A 28 mm Damped Apex Dome (DAD™) tweeter uses an Arrow Point suspension to control anti-phase behavior at the dome apex and extend clean, open treble response. A 150 mm neodymium midrange driver reproduces voices and instruments with clarity and texture, while two 220 mm woofers use Dual Drive motor systems and ultra-light voice coils to deliver deep, responsive bass.

Intono Midrange and Stealth Ultraflex Bass

The midrange operates in a sealed Intono chamber designed to reduce resonances and improve tonal accuracy. The dual woofers load into a vented enclosure with Stealth Ultraflex, Sonus faber’s external reflex system engineered to manage airflow, suppress turbulence and reinforce cabinet rigidity.

Phase-Coherent Crossover and Refined Phase Plug

Amati G5 uses a Phase Coherent Level 3 crossover network with premium, hand-selected components. Its phase plug incorporates a damping ring to minimize turbulence and support more consistent response away from the central listening axis, helping the speaker build a focused, dimensional soundstage across a wider seating area.

Amplifier and Room Matching

With 91 dB sensitivity, a 4-ohm nominal impedance and a recommended amplifier range of 50–450 watts per channel, Amati G5 rewards capable amplification and thoughtful placement. Four binding posts support separate mid/high and low-frequency connections. Sonus faber ZVT decoupling spikes provide a stable mechanical interface with the floor.
