Controlled, room-optimized low bass with serious output. The Sonus Faber Gravis III is a sealed 10-inch powered subwoofer combining a 600-watt RMS Class AB amplifier, advanced app-based tuning, automatic room calibration, and flexible RCA, XLR, and high-level connections. It adds depth and scale to high-end stereo systems and home theaters while providing the control needed for seamless integration.
Deep, Articulate Bass from a Sealed Cabinet
The Gravis III uses a sealed enclosure and a single 250 mm ultra-long-throw driver. Its trilaminated sandwich diaphragm places a Nomex honeycomb core between two fiberglass skins, creating a rigid, lightweight cone engineered to remain controlled through demanding low-frequency passages. A wide rubber surround supports the driver’s extended excursion.
Low-frequency response reaches 25 Hz at -6 dB, giving music greater foundation and cinematic effects convincing impact without relying on a conventional port.
600-Watt Class AB Amplification
A high-performance Class AB amplifier supplies 600 watts RMS and up to 900 watts peak. This combination of power and current delivery gives the Gravis III the headroom to reproduce wide dynamic swings while maintaining bass definition and control.
App Control and Automatic Room Calibration
The dedicated Sonus Faber Gravis app for iOS and Android provides detailed control from the listening position. Four user presets make it easy to store different configurations for music, movies, or listening levels.
- Automatic room calibration
- Continuously adjustable 40–150 Hz crossover with a 24 dB-per-octave slope
- Continuously adjustable phase from 0 to 360 degrees
- Up to eight parametric equalization filters
- Adjustable 1–20 ms delay
- Adjustable automatic power-on threshold
A direct-access master-volume control remains available on the cabinet for quick adjustments without the app.
Flexible Connections for Stereo and Home Theater
Dual unbalanced RCA inputs support left/right stereo or a dedicated LFE channel. A balanced XLR input provides a professional-grade line-level connection, while the Neutrik 4-pole Speakon input allows the Gravis III to receive a high-level signal from an amplifier’s speaker outputs. This makes it suitable for integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, and surround processors.
The optional Gravis Transmitter can provide wireless signal transmission when running an interconnect to the subwoofer is impractical.
Crafted to Complement Sonus Faber Loudspeakers
The squared cabinet combines semi-gloss or high-gloss wood finishes with black leather and aluminum detailing. The Gravis III was conceived as a natural partner for Sonus Faber’s Il Cremonese and Homage loudspeakers, while its extensive controls allow it to integrate with many other high-quality speaker systems.
Available finishes include Walnut Wood, Wenge Wood, and Piano Black Lacquer.
