Sculpture in sound
The Sonus faber flagship
Suprema is not treated as a conventional online purchase. It is planned as a complete listening environment.
Sonus Faber Suprema is the Italian manufacturer’s 40th-anniversary reference speaker system, conceived as a complete four-column acoustic architecture rather than a conventional pair of loudspeakers. Two main columns, two dedicated passive subwoofer columns, and a separate electronic crossover operate as one unified system, combining immense scale with the sculptural craftsmanship for which Sonus Faber is known.
Suprema separates the main loudspeakers from the deepest low-frequency duties so each part of the system can be engineered for its specific role. Every main column uses a 4.5-way sealed-box design with eight front-firing drivers and two rear-firing drivers. The front array includes four dual-drive woofers, a midwoofer, Sonus Faber’s Camelia midrange, a mid-tweeter, and a super tweeter. Rear-firing drivers contribute to spatial presentation and dispersion, helping the system create an expansive, carefully layered soundstage.
Each passive subwoofer column houses two 38 cm transducers engineered to reproduce the lowest octaves with authority and control. Forged-carbon-fiber diaphragms and powerful neodymium motor systems support bass extension down to 16 Hz. By giving the sub-bass range its own enclosures and amplification, Suprema is designed to deliver effortless weight without asking the main columns to compromise speed, openness, or tonal coherence.
A separate, fully discrete electronic crossover manages integration between the main columns and the dedicated subwoofers. Its pure-analog, dual-mono, fully balanced architecture gives the system specialist precise control over low-frequency integration while preserving the character of the source and associated electronics. Room, placement, amplification, and crossover settings are considered together during the commissioning process.
The main columns continue Sonus Faber’s signature lute-shaped cabinet tradition, while the subwoofer columns adopt an elliptical profile inspired by the Stradivari form. Wood, carbon fiber, CNC-machined solid aluminum, recycled cork, and Poltrona Frau Pelle Frau® Impact Less leather are combined for structural, acoustic, and visual purposes. A ground-coupling solution developed with IsoAcoustics further supports stability and mechanical control.
Sonus Faber recommends 100 to 700 watts of undistorted power for the main columns and 500 to 2,000 watts for the subwoofer section. Suprema should therefore be approached as a complete high-end audio project rather than a stand-alone product selection. Audio Exchange reviews room dimensions, placement, associated electronics, power, cabling, access, delivery requirements, and installation logistics before a final system is specified.
Suprema is offered through private consultation rather than conventional online checkout. Current pricing, finish availability, customization, associated electronics, specialized delivery, installation, and commissioning requirements are confirmed individually for each project.
