Brother Theodore - Fate Conspires With Destiny to Do Me Dirt (1959-1972)
Fate Conspires With Destiny to Do Me Dirt (1959-1972) collects the darkly comic, surreal, and fiercely theatrical recordings of Brother Theodore, the philosopher, actor, and self-described practitioner of “stand-up tragedy.” These feverish monologues move between absurdist storytelling, expressionist horror, metaphysical speculation, gallows humor, and the deliberately unsettling logic that made Theodore unlike any other spoken-word performer.
Released exclusively for Record Store Day UK and Europe in 2019, this deluxe edition restores Theodore’s early recordings from first-generation analog master tapes. The package includes a black LP, a bonus 7-inch single, a deluxe gatefold sleeve, an A2 reproduction poster/programme, and scholarly liner notes by Alvin Lucia.
Limited Black-Vinyl Edition
Only 500 copies were produced across both color configurations. This listing is for the “Where There Is Death, There Is Hope” black-vinyl edition, limited to 250 copies. The remaining 250 copies were pressed on “Endless Void” white vinyl.

About Brother Theodore
Brother Theodore transformed philosophical pessimism, grotesque comedy, and theatrical menace into a singular performance style. A cult presence on late-night television and in New York performance spaces, he delivered monologues that could sound like lectures, nightmares, sermons, or elaborate practical jokes—often all at once.
