More than 20 years after its release, the 2001 OVA Cat Soup, based on the Nekojiru manga by Tatsuo Sato and Masaaki Yuasa, continues to captivate a devoted fan base.
The soundtrack, composed by Utollo Teshikai, has been extremely difficult to find, but now it's being reissued on vinyl for the first time! Utollo Teshikai, a renowned composer and synthesizer player, has worked with many famous artists including Shigeru Matsuzaki and Hiromi Ota. He is also known for his outstanding work on obscure image albums, such as the soundtrack for Shigeru Tamura's picture books.
This album features 19 tracks, including dark ambient and new age compositions reminiscent of Italian cult noise artist Maurizio Bianchi, alongside fantastical pieces with ethnic influences. It is a masterpiece that perfectly captures the essence of the original manga and anime, making it a must-have for fans.
