Finger Dancin' captures Japanese guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka in a compact burst of colorful jazz fusion, funk, disco, and melodic guitar work. Originally released in 1980, the four-track mini-album returns as a limited-edition Japanese pressing on 180-gram clear purple vinyl.
Opening with the expansive “Space Wagon,” the record moves through the soft, romantic atmosphere of “Plastic Tears” before reaching the energetic title track. “Finger Dancin'” places Takanaka’s expressive guitar playing over an upbeat, danceable arrangement, while “Heart Ace” closes the record with another polished blend of funk-driven rhythm and melodic fusion.
This remastered edition was created using high-resolution audio sourced from the original master tapes. Alex Wharton remastered the recording and cut the lacquer at Abbey Road Studios in London, presenting the music as a heavyweight 12-inch 45 RPM pressing.
Pressed on clear purple vinyl chosen to complement the original artwork, this Japanese import is an excellent addition to any Masayoshi Takanaka vinyl collection and an accessible introduction to his distinctive fusion sound.
