Roy Porter, known for his rare groove classics "Inner Feelings" (blue vinyl) and "Jessica" (yellow vinyl), returns with a new era Sound Machine in 1994! The killer funk tracks "Panama" and "Party Time," sampled numerous times, are reconstructed by Roy Porter into a superb groove, making this a must-listen!
Having been active in the US jazz scene for years, including his time with Charlie Parker's band, Roy Porter recorded "Inner Feelings" and "Jessica" in the '70s with his band Sound Machine. In 1994, he reassembled the band, adding "'94" to the name, to create the album "Generation." This album features tracks like "Generation" (M1) with a rapper, "Mr. RP & Me (Vocal)" (M2) combining poetry with "Panama," and "Slaughterhouse" (M5) featuring rap on "Party Time." This album is a unique fusion of jazz and hip-hop, a precursor to the style popularized by artists like Robert Glasper in the 2010s.
