Description
Jiro Inagaki & His Soul Media – Head Rock (Vinyl LP)
A landmark in Japanese jazz-rock, Head Rock captures saxophonist Jiro Inagaki and His Soul Media at full throttle, blending gritty groove, rock momentum, and sharp jazz improvisation into a set that never lets up. Originally released in 1970, it opens with the relentless drive of “The Vamp” and keeps climbing through break-heavy funk, widescreen horn lines, and extended jazz-fusion workouts.
If you like rhythm sections that hit hard and arrangements that feel cinematic without losing the bite, this LP is a staple: the title is frequently cited as an all-time Japanese jazz-funk/jazz-rock essential, and it remains a go-to recommendation for anyone building a serious “jazz meets rock” crate.
