Record details
Release information, pressing details, and practical ordering information.
Originally released in 1986, Green is a landmark of Japanese ambient and environmental music from composer and sound designer Hiroshi Yoshimura. Recorded during the winter of 1985–86 in Yoshimura’s home studio, its gently evolving synthesizer patterns create an immersive, contemplative sound world shaped by the rhythms and textures of nature.
This first-ever vinyl reissue was produced in full cooperation with Yoshimura’s estate and restores the original Japanese LP mix—the version without the added environmental sound effects used on later editions. Remastered for vinyl and pressed at RTI, this edition is presented on Translucent Leaves vinyl and includes previously unseen handwritten track notes by Yoshimura.
Hiroshi Yoshimura was a pioneering figure in Japanese ambient and environmental music. Alongside his albums, he created sound designs and commissioned works for museums, galleries, public spaces, television, video art, fashion shows, and commercial environments. Green remains one of his best-known and most enduring recordings.
