Hydeout Productions 2nd Collection brings together Nujabes and a carefully selected group of artists associated with his influential Japanese record label. Originally released in 2007, the compilation blends jazzy hip-hop, instrumental beats, downtempo production, soulful vocals, and atmospheric melodies across 14 tracks.
Much of the collection centers on Nujabes’ production, including “Voice of Autumn,” “Counting Stars,” “Another Reflection,” and “After Hanabi -Listen to My Beats-.” Vocal collaborations include C.L. Smooth on “Sky Is Falling,” Substantial on “Hikari,” and Five Deez on “Fly by Night.”
The album also expands beyond Nujabes’ solo work with selections from Uyama Hiroto, Emancipator, Pase Rock, Shing02, Clammbon, and DSK. Highlights include the Nujabes-produced “Imaginary Folklore,” Emancipator’s reflective “With Rainy Eyes,” and the Modal Soul remix of Shing02’s “Luv(sic.).”
Presented as a limited Japanese import on two black vinyl records, this edition gives listeners another side of the Hydeout Productions catalog alongside Nujabes albums such as Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul.
