Life

Life captures acclaimed Japanese jazz pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto at the piano alongside an exceptional rhythm section: Sam Jones on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. Recorded in Tokyo on April 16, 1976, this intimate East Wind trio session blends relaxed swing, lyrical ballads and blues-inflected improvisation.

Now available in the 2026 Japanese “Spin This Now!” Vol. 9 vinyl reissue, Life offers seven timeless performances. The trio moves from the buoyant “Green Dolphin Street” and “Someday My Prince Will Come” to a tender reading of “If You Could See Me Now,” with the bluesy original “Billysam Blues” highlighting the players’ effortless musical chemistry. A rewarding choice for jazz piano enthusiasts and collectors of classic Japanese jazz pressings.

Personnel: Tsuyoshi Yamamoto (piano), Sam Jones (bass), Billy Higgins (drums). Label: East Wind / Universal Music Japan. Edition: 2026 Japanese LP reissue, PROZ-7926.
