The design
The Magico A1 bookshelf loudspeakers bring Magico’s aluminum-enclosure engineering and proprietary driver technology into a compact two-way design. A pure beryllium tweeter and graphene-reinforced midbass driver work within a sealed cabinet, making the A1 a standmount option for listeners building a carefully matched high-end stereo system.
The A1 is a passive speaker and requires an external amplifier suited to a 4-ohm load. Its 84 dB sensitivity makes amplifier capability, listening distance and desired volume useful considerations. Use stable supports rated for each speaker’s 48-pound weight, and position the tweeters appropriately for your seated listening height.
The A1 cabinet is constructed from 3/8-inch-thick 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. Internal bracing and damping help control unwanted cabinet movement, so the enclosure contributes less coloration to the sound. Magico combines computer simulation with physical testing to refine its mechanical behavior.
A 28mm pure beryllium tweeter uses a design platform derived from Magico’s M Series. Its neodymium motor and damped rear chamber support controlled diaphragm movement and low distortion. The lightweight, rigid dome is designed to reproduce high-frequency detail and dynamic changes accurately.
The 6.5-inch midbass driver uses a multi-wall carbon-fiber cone reinforced with XG Nanographene. The combination balances stiffness, low mass and damping, helping the diaphragm resist deformation as it reproduces voices, instruments and bass.
