The Magico A3 2027 is a ground-up redesign of the loudspeaker that introduced many listeners to Magico. This new three-way, four-driver floorstanding loudspeaker brings a new enclosure, new drivers, a new crossover, and measurement techniques developed for Magico’s M9 flagship into the A3 platform.
Now accepting reservations. Magico currently estimates shipments to begin in Q1 2027. Timing and specifications are subject to change. Contact Audio Exchange for reservation details, finish selection, system matching, and delivery planning. This product is subject to manufacturer-dealer restrictions.
For the A3 2027, Magico revisited the loudspeaker from the cabinet outward rather than simply carrying forward the previous design. The enclosure, driver complement, crossover network, damping strategy, and exterior geometry have all been reworked, with development guided by the same advanced measurement tools used on the M9.
A Laser Vibrometer was used to map cabinet-panel vibration and the sound pressure generated by those panels, allowing Magico to place bracing, damping, and structural fasteners where measured data showed they were most effective. A Near-Field Scanner robot was also used to evaluate the loudspeaker across the full 3D sphere surrounding it, helping optimize both on-axis and off-axis response.
The A3 2027 incorporates constrained-layer damping inside a structurally optimized enclosure. The cabinet uses radiused vertical edges, a top plate that flows into the side panels, concealed fasteners, a precision-machined base, and custom-designed footers. The revised geometry is intended to reduce edge diffraction while giving the speaker a cleaner, more refined profile.
Bead-blasted, anodized aluminum finishes are offered in Black, Silver, Red, and Blue. Because the finish is integral to the aluminum rather than applied as a surface coating, the cabinet has a fine, even satin texture.
Every drive unit in the A3 2027 is new. High frequencies are handled by a 28mm pure-beryllium dome tweeter with a newly developed neodymium-based motor system and an optimized back chamber.
The 5-inch midrange uses Magico’s latest cone technology: an aluminum-honeycomb core formed into a custom geometry and sandwiched between carbon-fiber skins. Its motor system uses a stabilized magnetic field, a pure titanium voice coil, and pure copper shorting rings to reduce eddy currents and distortion.
Low frequencies are reproduced by two 7-inch woofers using the same new cone architecture. Their acoustic, mechanical, electromagnetic, and thermal behavior was modeled together through advanced FEA simulation to reduce music-related distortion across the operating range.
The three-way crossover uses an acoustical-target 24dB Linkwitz-Riley slope to support frequency and phase linearity while minimizing intermodulation distortion. Magico’s Elliptical Symmetry Crossover techniques are used to control driver resonances, and the network is built with components from Mundorf EB GmbH of Cologne, Germany.
