The Great Buddha+ (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The Great Buddha+ (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the evocative film score composed and produced by acclaimed Taiwanese musician Lin Sheng Xiang (林生祥) for the award-winning 2017 film. This 2026 180-gram black vinyl LP reissue presents 14 beautifully recorded selections that move fluidly between Taiwanese folk, jazz, Japanese enka, Southeast Asian melodies and surf-inspired rhythms.

Featuring performances from Lin's accomplished ensemble, including Toru Hayakawa and Ken Ohtake, the soundtrack mirrors the film's unique combination of dark comedy, melancholy and human warmth. Its expressive acoustic textures and rich sonic detail reward listening well beyond the movie itself. The original score received the 2017 Taipei Film Festival award for Best Music and Golden Horse Awards recognition for its soundtrack and original song.

Pressing: Limited 2026 reissue on heavyweight 180g black vinyl from Foothills Folk. The original soundtrack dates to 2017.
