The Man with the Guitar – Recorded at LIVETERIA

The Man with the Guitar – Recorded at LIVETERIA captures Japanese jazz-fusion guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka and a stellar supporting ensemble performing eight of his signature pieces in a lively studio-concert setting. Originally released in 2001 on CD and SACD, this performance arrives on vinyl for the first time as part of the 2026 CITY POP on VINYL series.

Cut by acclaimed mastering engineer Bernie Grundman and pressed in Japan on 180-gram black vinyl, this limited-edition LP showcases Takanaka’s fluid guitar phrasing, breezy melodies, and vibrant interplay with bassist Tsugutoshi Goto, percussionist Nobu Saito, drummers Hideo Yamaki and Tatsuo Hayashi, keyboardists Masae Nambu and Keiji Matsumoto, and vocal group EVE. From “Nagisa Moderato” and “Saudade” to “Ready to Fly” and “Blue Lagoon,” it offers a vivid introduction to his distinctive Japanese fusion sound.
