2M 78: replace the stylus, retain the body

The 2M 78 is intended for 78 rpm shellac records. Its larger 65 µm spherical tip suits coarse-groove playback, rather than the microgrooves of ordinary vinyl LPs. Choose it for the record format, not simply because a record is old or monaural.

A replacement assembly, not a complete cartridge

This listing supplies the 2M 78 stylus assembly, including the diamond and cantilever. A cartridge body and headshell are not included. Keep a correctly installed compatible body in place when renewing the stylus.

Match the exact cartridge and record format

2M 78 and 2M Mono bodies with the appropriate 78 stylus; for shellac 78 records only. For 78 rpm shellac, not regular microgroove vinyl LPs; the turntable must support the correct playback speed.

This is not a stylus for ordinary microgroove vinyl LPs. A turntable that can play the correct 78 rpm speed is also required.

The recommended tracking force for this assembly is 1.8 g. Verify the setting after fitting or changing a stylus, rather than assuming the previous adjustment is correct.
