The Ortofon MC X10 is the entry point into Ortofon’s new MC X Series, bringing true low-output moving coil performance to listeners who want greater detail, clarity, and musical refinement from their vinyl playback system. Designed around Ortofon’s latest moving coil platform, the MC X10 combines a nude elliptical stylus, aluminum cantilever, high-purity silver coils, and a precision-engineered stainless steel body for a clean, accurate, and engaging sound.
As a moving coil phono cartridge, the MC X10 is built for listeners looking to step beyond many moving magnet designs and hear more texture, space, and low-level detail from their records. Its 0.4 mV output is ideal for use with a quality MC phono preamp or step-up solution, while the recommended 2.0 gram tracking force makes setup straightforward for compatible tonearms.
Every cartridge in the Ortofon MC X Series uses high-purity silver coil wire, designed to preserve signal clarity and detail from the groove. The MC X10 also uses Ortofon’s quad-coil generator system and optimized magnet structure to create a clean, stable signal path with excellent magnetic efficiency.
The MC X10 features a nude elliptical stylus mounted to an aluminum cantilever. This stylus profile offers a strong balance of detail retrieval, tracking ability, and musical ease, making it a smart choice for vinyl listeners who want a serious upgrade without jumping to the higher-cost stylus profiles found further up the MC X lineup.
The MC X Series body uses a honeycomb-structured stainless steel frame manufactured through Metal Injection Molding. This rigid, low-resonance construction gives the cartridge a stable mechanical foundation, helping the stylus and generator system retrieve musical information with precision.
The Ortofon MC X10 is a great fit for listeners upgrading into moving coil playback for the first time, or for anyone looking for a refined, detailed cartridge that remains practical and approachable. It pairs best with turntables and tonearms that can support a low-output MC cartridge and a phono stage with appropriate moving coil gain and loading.
