McIntosh DS200: High-End Streaming and Digital Conversion
The McIntosh DS200 Streaming DAC adds modern network music streaming, high-resolution digital conversion, and flexible system control to an existing two-channel audio system. It combines a Quad Balanced eight-channel 32-bit DAC, native access to leading streaming platforms, eight digital inputs, HDMI ARC, and fixed or variable analog outputs in a full-width McIntosh chassis.
Connect the DS200 to an existing preamplifier or integrated amplifier as a dedicated streaming DAC, or switch its balanced and unbalanced outputs to variable mode and connect it directly to a power amplifier. This makes the DS200 equally useful as a digital source component or as the control center for an all-digital stereo system.

Stream Without a Dedicated Control App
The DS200 works with the applications listeners already use. Music can be sent through Apple AirPlay or Google Cast, while Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect provide direct control from their native apps. The component is also Roon Ready for network playback through a Roon system and Roon Tested for compatible USB operation.
Dual-band Wi-Fi and Ethernet provide network connectivity, while Bluetooth 5.0 supports aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Low Latency for convenient playback from compatible mobile devices.
Quad Balanced 32-Bit DAC
At the center of the DS200 is a Quad Balanced eight-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analog converter. Four DAC channels are dedicated to each audio channel, helping reduce noise and improve channel separation. The USB input supports PCM files up to 32-bit/384kHz, DSD up to DSD512, and DXD up to 384kHz.
Coaxial and optical inputs support signals up to 24-bit/192kHz. The proprietary MCT input accepts the digital output of compatible McIntosh transports, including DSD64 from SACD playback.
Eight Digital Inputs for a Complete System
The rear panel includes two coaxial inputs, two optical inputs, one USB audio input, one MCT input, one AES/EBU input, and one HDMI ARC connection. This selection accommodates computers, disc transports, televisions, network sources, and other digital components without requiring a separate digital switcher.
HDMI ARC for Better Television Sound
HDMI ARC allows compatible televisions to send audio to the DS200 through a single HDMI cable. Incoming Dolby and DTS multichannel soundtracks are converted to two-channel audio for playback through a stereo system. The connection is intended for audio return and does not pass video through the DS200.
Fixed DAC or Variable Digital Preamplifier
Both the balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs can operate at fixed or variable level. Fixed output is appropriate when the DS200 is connected to an existing preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Variable output allows the DS200 to control volume directly when connected to a power amplifier, creating a streamlined all-digital system.
The fixed output level is 2 volts through RCA and 4 volts through XLR. In variable mode, output is adjustable up to 8 volts through RCA and 16 volts through XLR.
Classic McIntosh System Integration
The DS200 uses McIntosh’s black glass front panel, illuminated logo, rotary controls, aluminum end caps, and polished stainless-steel chassis. Power Control input and output can coordinate power operation with compatible McIntosh components, while Data In, IR input, and RS232 support custom control and installation applications.
