A reference DAC and SACD/CD player in one
The McIntosh MCD12000 SACD/CD Player combines reference-level disc playback with a reference-level digital-to-analog converter for an entire digital music system. Two ESS SABRE PRO ES9038PRO 32-bit/8-channel DACs are used—one dedicated to each stereo channel—while seven digital inputs accommodate computers, streamers, transports, and other sources.
McIntosh Hybrid Drive technology provides separate balanced and unbalanced analog outputs in both vacuum-tube and solid-state configurations. You can select the output character that best complements the recording and the rest of your system, making the MCD12000 far more than a conventional McIntosh CD player.

Dual-DAC digital architecture
Each stereo channel receives its own ES9038PRO converter configured in Octal-Balanced Mono mode. Separate digital and analog power supplies help isolate sensitive audio circuitry, while an R-Core transformer minimizes radiated noise. Coaxial and optical inputs support audio up to 24-bit/192kHz; the USB input extends support to 32-bit/384kHz PCM, DSD512, and DXD384kHz.
Choose vacuum-tube or solid-state output
The MCD12000 provides dedicated fixed analog outputs for both circuit types. The vacuum-tube path uses one 12AT7 and one 12AX7A per channel, while the solid-state path uses a discrete balanced operational amplifier. Both output sections are available through balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections, so you can choose the presentation that best suits the music or connected preamplifier.
